Labyrinth – January 14, 2018

New Year Labyrinth
The labyrinth is an ancient practice – a journey into a maze-like pattern and back out again.   Today, it is often a quiet practice, a walk of reflection for each person.  Once, it may have been used for a communal celebration akin to a spiral dance.  Our labyrinth is becoming an annual event.  We first created it for the New Year’s weekend of 2011-12.  We had open hours for anyone who wanted to try walking the labyrinth and a worship service in which we walked quietly as well as danced joyously through the labyrinth.  We also celebrated a wedding in the labyrinth.  For 2012-13, our Second Annual New Year Labyrinth will be created on December 30th and be open for about a week.  Once again, we will have open hours when anyone in the Springfield area is welcome to come walk the labyrinth, and a worship service for communal meditation and celebration.
