April 24, 2022: "Awakening Through Movement, Practices for Enjoyment," a Spiritual Makerspace Service with Neva Cockrell and Raphael Sacks from the Art Monastery  Come join Neva and Raphael as we explore embodiment practices to help us feel fresh, feel energy and joy! Let’s shake off winter and welcome Spring with our dear friends at the Art Monastery. Please stay for coffee hour after the service.

 

Neva Crockrell, Raphael Sacks, Mellen Kennedy

 

Neva Cockrell is a writer, director, and performer who uses dance-theater as a tool for social change. She joined Pilobolus in 2016 and began serving as Dance Captain in 2017. With Pilobolus she has toured to Germany, Austria, Switzerland, China, Mexico, Israel, Saudi Arabia, and Dubai. In 2010 she co-founded her own interdisciplinary company, Loom Ensemble, and has toured new work and taught in US, Europe, and UAE. In addition to touring the world as a performer and director, Neva runs the Art Monastery, an artist collective and contemplative community in Vermont. She has been teaching embodiment practices for over a decade, including opening Physique 57’s first international studio in Dubai and developing her own movement technique, Catalyst Training.

 

Raphael Sacks has sung, danced, made theater and taught yoga in New York, Italy, Belgium, Netherlands, Berlin, Stockholm, Dubai. He is a founding member of Loom Ensemble and a co-director of Art Monastery Vermont. NYC credits include performances at BAM with Meredith Monk; Lincoln Center with Urban Research Theater; and La MaMa with Loom Ensemble. Raphael teaches meditation and yoga in Dubai and Vermont. His spiritual path is outdoors.
