21 Fairground Rd, Springfield VT

The Unitarian Universalist Church in Springfield is a welcoming and supportive community for people of all ages.  We value the open mind and encourage each person to question and develop their own faith.  We love a warm heart and a generous spirit.  Together, we seek the creation of a more loving and just world, and aspire to live sustainably on the Earth.

We have been a voice for liberal religion for over 200 years.  Our first meeting house was built on Parker Hill in 1805.  We still maintain the cemetery on Parker Hill and hold a service there annually.  In 1832, the congregation joined the Episcopalians in building a Union Church in the center of the growing town of Springfield.  In 1870, the Universalists took sole possession as the Church of the Good Shepherd.  We moved to our current location on Fairground Rd. in 1971, and added a lovely new Sanctuary in 1990.  Our facility is fully accessible.

July Services and Events
During the summer, we take some time to reflect on community and family and rejuvenate our spirits.
We will hold services every other Sunday in July and August and resume our regular schedule after Labor Day.

Sunday, July 11 at 10 am - What are We? Service Leader-Rev. Eleanor Rice

Culture or faith?  Who's part of us, who's not?  What about change?  Is there another question we should be asking?  In this simple service, we will meditate and reflect upon many of the recent comments made in the UU World about culture and change in Unitarian Universalism

Sunday, June 25 at 10 am
- "Drum Circle" Service Leader-Greg Eddy

Everyone is invited to experience joy of meditation as nourishment through unison singing of verse, as described by Thich Nhat Hanh in The Blooming of a Lotus: Guided Meditation Exercises for Healing and Transformation: "In, out.  Deep, slow.   Calm, ease.   Smile, release.   Present moment.   Wonderful moment."   Then people can listen and act to create rhythmical agreement among the players.   Feel free to bring your own instruments; some few will be provided; others may devise their own."
